Our fake sense of technological advancement

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_device_bandwidths here is a clue, notice the dates, latest 2008. And if you follow the trends you can figure out what must be about to come. And well here we are boasting about EVDO rev B.

I feel there are two worlds, the one we live in and the other one where for some reason people appear to have a vision and a brain. We here are slowly adjusting and adapting a 7 year old technology adsl2+. And we feel that WOW!

Coming to Iphones and all the smart phones etc. Well i think they are the biggest waste of time an money atleast the way we use it. We see no more utility of it other than watching movies where ever we go, music, facebooking, msging. How many of us use it for presentations, demonstartions or anything else useful. How many of us have any e-reader software installed?? The use we have for it i think we dont need it. So i guess it doesnot matter that we have high speed internet, all we ever do is ....

And a fact, i had been talking to a PTCL official, he seemed very pissed, he was quoting figures, almost 90% of our bamdwidth is multimedia related, movies, youtube, facebook and mostly the "p" thing! He was of the idea, is this the extent to where our brain goes??

If you have a resource use it for something useful. But sadly in our universities students dont even know how to use google!!! All the ever want is the teacher to spoon feed us. The little cute toddlers us!

  1. Totally true and without denying the fact you've told here i would like to add a little something here. There comes a difference of education levels in Pakistan. Students of O/A levels are much more advance than the students of F.sc and in most of the universities in Pak 80% students are from fsc background roughly and that makes a lot of difference. Intermediate level is way obsolete than O/A levels and the students there are totally dumb, rot-learning parrots.

  2. I agree intermediate level is way more obsolete than O/A levels but believe me having done O/A level myself, I have to disagree on your assertion that students of intermediate are totally dumb and rot-learning parrots. Perhaps you are looking in the wrong places for the best intermediate students out there.
I do agree that cramming is the vilest thing intermediate can impart to the students, alas it's sown into the system. But you can say the same for O/A levels now days. Go to the nearest O/A levels academy and you'll find them in a more inconspicuous way, teaching students a systematic way of cramming the past papers.

  3. I just perceiving the students around me and having done O levels and Fsc myself, I think the difference in these both is more clearer to me. ;)
and besides when we talk about something, it is to be considered as 'most of them' and yeah there are exceptions fsc students are extraordinary BUT very rare!
Cramming past papers does not work clearly, that is just a way of taking it off their heads plus the grooming factor, IQ build up and top of all common sense also counts, my friend!

  4. Well thanks for clearing that up. Because the strong words you used to describe Fsc students didn't give any hint that you meant "most of them". And yes if you've been through both these levels than you must know their differences might be more clearer to you than me. Excluding the common sense part. I think you pretty much nailed the differences.
